The song is available from Audio Network - a music website that Don't Nod used to find further music for Life is Strange.

Lyrics[]

Alone with a heart, a battered old heart
A heart that needs tender care
It knows you won't be there
To share a company, it ain't easy to be
Alone with a dream, a silly old dream
A dream that faded away
How I'll get through today?
I just don't know
Oh what a fool just to imagine
That things could work out if we try
Now I realize it's over
You might understand if I cry
I try to adjust
I know that I must
I've got to face a new day
Take it on the chin as they say and make a new start
But now I'm sitting alone with a heart

Interpretation[]

This song plays near the beginning of the episode after Max goes back in time through one of Mr. Jefferson's photographs where she appears to be more conscious. Jefferson plays the song through his music entertainment system as he examines the new photographs he has taken of Max. The song seems to speak of loneliness upon losing somebody's company after thinking their company would last into the future. Its appearance in the game comes upon Max waking after having seen Chloe shot dead by Mr. Jefferson at the end of Episode 4: Dark Room. Max is now suddenly all alone without her "faithful companion."
