John McCormick "Mac" Loudon (born: August 2nd, 1995), is a resident of the town of Haven Springs in Life is Strange: True Colors.

Personality[]

Mac is described as a hot-headed and brash boy who is prone to conflict, especially with Gabe, but intensely loyal.

It could be implied that Mac developed some degree of suicidal ideation due to a silhouette of a man hanging from a noose appearing at the mural when Alex entered Nova to investigate if he did get a call from Gabe.+

Background[]

Mac, much like Ryan Lucan, was born in Haven Springs. He began working at the local mine straight out of highschool, and quickly rose to the position of Safety Manager at Typhon Mining.

Four years prior to the events of the game, Mac started a relationship with Riley Lethe after comforting her from a bunch of his jock friends. The two would go on to have a relatively stable relationship until Mac started noticing that Riley was hanging out with Gabe a lot more than usual, and started suspecting that she was cheating on him.

Chapter 1: Side A[]

Mac comes to Gabe's apartment and confronts Gabe over his talk with Riley, as he believes he is trying to take her away from him. Gabe tries to clear up the misunderstanding, but Mac ignores and beats him. Alex, upon seeing a red aura around Mac, is overwhelmed by his rage. After becoming infused with it, she copies Mac's words and beats him repeatedly in a fit of rage. Gabe tries to stop her, but Alex accidentally punches him before finally calming down. Mac calls Alex a psycho and storms off.

While cleaning a table, Alex comes across Mac, who is now emitting a purple aura (which represents fear). After she is done, Mac will talk to her. Riley will show up to confront Mac about his violent actions. Alex can choose to stay out of the fight or tell Riley the truth. Telling the truth will ruin Riley and Mac's relationship.

Chapter 2: Lanterns[]

Mac is seen mourning Gabe's death alongside Ryan, Charlotte, Duckie, Jed, Steph, Pike, Alex, and Riley. Ryan blames himself for his death, but Mac reveals that he was part of the operation and claimed that there was no call. Ryan finds out that Mac is actually lying (to which Alex can support Ryan's claim or not), leading to a heated argument with everyone else, eventually forcing Jed to break it up.

Alex later finds Mac on the bridge and confronts him of the lie; his reaction will depend on if his relationship with Riley is severed or not. Mac is unwilling to talk as a purple aura appears around him before leaving. After talking to Riley, Alex goes to talk to Mac about it, in which Mac confesses that he did hear the call and tried to warn Typhon, the mining company that was in charge of the blast, but was ignored and forced to keep quiet while also admitting that he never wanted to hurt anyone, indicating that Typhon has sinister motives. Alex can then choose to calm Mac down or leave him. Calming him down will earn his respect. If she calms him down, he will appear at the memorial service later that night.

Chapter 4: Flicker[]

Alex may meet Mac at the Spring Festival. His appearance at the festival and how he reacts depend on Alex's past choices.

Chapter 5: Side B[]

During Gabe's future visions, Mac can either be seen spending time in the Black Lantern with Riley or by himself while Riley spends time with another man (if she did not leave town). If he left town, he won't appear in this scene.

If Alex chooses to leave Haven Springs, Mac may appear to say goodbye to her.
